What Do Home Buyers Want?

Home buyers are savvier then ever before! More people are working to acquire memories than they are to acquire big houses. If you think bigger is always better when your selling your home, you may be in for a surprise. (Check out our blog on tiny house trends).

Homes that are typically in the most demand are three bedroom homes with two bathrooms. If this is your home, then you have what buyers are looking for. Here are more tips on what features pique the interest of potentials buyers of your soon to be sold home.

Kitchens That Leave A Lasting Impression

The kitchen has always drawn attention of home buyers of all ages. There has always been a great desire for an updated modern kitchen. If you cannot create a new and modern kitchen consider updating a few items in your kitchen like the cabinets if you can. Updating the kitchen is usually an investment that pays off when selling your home.

Bathrooms Large enough to fit the whole family

Bathrooms are also high on the list of priorities when people are looking to buy a home. Why does a large bathroom matter so much? Typically, people who buy single family homes with three bedrooms have a child or two. This usually requires a few people in the bathroom at night to supervise bath time. If the bathroom cannot accommodate a nightly routine, this will most likely deter potential buyers.

If you do not have a large bathroom find ways to maximize space in the bathroom you have. Consider adding items that will make bath time easier on parents and draw their attention to that.

Home Buyers Want Large outdoor spaces

Parents of young children enjoy finding large yards for their children to frolic in. If you do not have a large, there really is nothing you can do about that! However, you can make your yard appear bigger by maximizing unusable space. Use the space under your deck as storage and remove your storage shed.

If you can, create an outdoor (seasonal if needed) room that is inviting and usable for the whole family.

Garages

These are a no brainer. Especially in Saskatoon. We have long winter seasons and garages make our winters so much more bearable. If you do not have a garage and can build one, consider doing so. If you cannot afford to build a garage but your house/yard permits the building of one, ensure that your buyers know that.
